The Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce’s (BYCC) Inaugural race day was held at Doomben in the 10,000 Room on Wednesday 27 September.
Race Caller Wayne Wilson allowed private access for a few select guests throughout the day to listen to a graphic description of his live call of the race from the broadcast box. Wayne took time out prior to the start of the race to allow guests to ask questions about his role on the day.
Jockey Glenn Colless had a successful day riding home 2 winners and a 2nd and also found time to come and talk to the 115 guests at the BYCC function and provide them with and insight into a day in the life of a jockey. Glenn spoke of his 2005 ride in the Melbourne Cup on Lachlan River where he finished 5th behind Makybe Diva.
All guests got up close and personal for Race 1 as they were treated to a tour of the starting barriers.
MC Mark Forbes provided entertainment for guests throughout the day with a Punters Club and Trivia questions with winners receiving entry into various sweeps.
Lindsey Hamilton, Co ordinator for the BYCC said that this event is a must for the Annual Calendar of Events.
