The Eventageous Cox Plate tour kicked off on Friday at the Mantra on Russell in Melbourne with over 50 guests eagerly awaiting Tatts Cox Plate Day.
Melbourne did not disappoint with a perfect day and perfect weather with the Moonee Valley Racing Club providing a sensational day of racing.
The warm up to the Tatts Cox Plate was the running of the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes over 1200m. The nine runners had combined prizemoney of over $11 Million with the likes of Ortensia, Lucky Secret, Danleigh, Light Fantatstic, Mic Mac and Apache Cat. The Cat did not let the crowd down, making his rails run and knuckling down to the task to the roar of the crowd.
Whobegotyou was all the talk for the Tatts Cox Plate, however a little known 3YO Colt "So You Think" in his fifth ever race start was not listening and decided to set his own terms in front and show the seasoned veterans how it was done. The race where legends are made may well have produced another up and comer with what may well be a legendary career ahead of him.
